Do you have a teacher or teachers that no longer need access to AES?
You have to deal with a lot of moving parts when a teacher is leaving. We’re here to help you ensure that your AES subscription is secure and students are not affected by staff changes.
In this article, you’ll learn the steps to take when a teacher no longer needs access to your AES subscription, based on four common scenarios:
A Teacher is Retiring or Leaving Your District
If you have a teacher who is retiring or moving to another district, there are a few questions to answer that will make the transition go smoothly for everyone involved.
Is the teacher going to be replaced by a new teacher?
When a new teacher without an existing AES account is taking over for a teacher leaving your district, an account must be set up for them.
If you’re an account administrator you can add the new teacher yourself and transfer any existing classes to them.
If you don’t have administrative rights, we can set up the new teacher’s account for you! Send us a chat with the following details for the new instructor:
First and Last Name
School-Issued email address
School Name within the District
At that point in time, we’ll also remove the teacher who is leaving from your subscription.
Will a current teacher be taking over their classes?
In some cases, an existing teacher in your AES account will take over the classes of a teacher leaving the district. If that’s the case for you, you can easily transfer the classes to the appropriate teacher.
Students will not be affected by the transfer.
A Teacher is Switching Schools in Your District
If a teacher is switching schools within your district, send us a chat so we can update their account and contact information!
Also, review the questions below to determine if you need to take any other actions related to the teacher who is switching schools.

A Teacher is No Longer Teaching Classes that Use AES
Sometimes a teacher will change positions, such as teaching different classes or moving into an administrative role. As a result, they no longer require access to AES.
Review the questions below to determine the steps you need to take for this scenario.

A Teacher is Going on an Extended Leave
If a teacher is leaving temporarily, you may need to make a few arrangements! Review the questions below to determine what you need to do.
Will there be a long-term substitute teacher?
If the teacher’s classes will be taken over by a long-term sub, leave the classes under the teacher going on leave and assign a substitute teacher.
Does the substitute teacher have an AES account?
A substitute teacher should always have their own AES account and should never log in as another teacher.
